Better than any nove

Better than any novel or soap opera, my life has seen it all. From a 5 star hotel existence on various continents, through to parenthood, divorce and lone parenting; the suicide of a loved one, a working life behind prison bars, dealing with ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Asperger's, the gambling and drug addiction of some of the people around me; moving countries, caring for elderly parents, starting and running a business, a constant weight battle and a personal finance situation that hit rock bottom.

There have been many battles and some huge achievements.  It just goes to show there are no barriers to what life wants to give us. It's how we adapt to the experiences, what we learn from them and how we use that knowledge that counts.
Educationally school was okay; but it was a bit later in life that my greatest academic achievements came about. My introduction to psychology was to open many doors, including those to a lot of prisons! Working with some of the most infamous criminals of recent British history has given me a wealth of knowledge and insight into the workings of the human mind.

I am now at a time in my life where I can offer both professional and personal insight into many situations that you may be struggling with or putting off because you think you are the only one in that place.  Just as life's experiences are limitless, so too are life's solutions. Let me show you the way.

Most Important Things

One of the most important things when you want to change something in your life is to be coachable, as doing it all by yourself is like walking blind folded along a busy motorway, it is full of hazards but none that you cannot out maneuver without support and knowledge, if you are willing to listen and learn.

The great news is that NOBODY has ever done and achieved anything all by themselves, there is no cowardice in having help. Whatever it is you want to change, somebody somewhere has already done the same thing and their information and experiences are their to help you. We live in a world of information overload, it is available on the internet, books, magazines anywhere and everywhere. There has never been a better time in history to have the life you want and live exactly how and where you want.

Being coachable opens up new horizons, new possibilities in a world where generally there is more freedom than ever, why not be part of it, learn from it and achieve with it. All of us think that we are stuck in a rut, or a certain way of living, but we can change we can make things different. As soon as we want to, learning and trusting in a coach and ourselves is a huge step of faith, but the outcomes are well worth the work and effort.

Each day is a new opportunity

Each day is a new opportunity to change anything you want to, it does not have to be 1st Jan, or your birthday, or any special date; everyday is special and you can choose to make it “the day”.  Nobody has the power or the privilege to make that choice for you, unless you let them.
Why spend your days in places, with people and doing things you don’t like, or that do not make you happy, fear of change is often greater than the uncomfortable situation we are in.  We create our limits in our minds, then believe them to be the truth.  One thing I learnt very early on in the field of psychology; ‘the truth” is never just that, it is only the truth as we see it.  Just think for a moment, football, baseball, or any sport when you follow one person or a team, they are the best. If that were “true” then everyone would follow or support just that one team or person and we know that is not true.  Snakes, heights, flying some people are terrified of one or maybe all of these, but not everyone.  The actual snake, height or flight is not different, but our personal reaction is depending on our beliefs of the truth.
It is never too late or too soon to make changes for yourself and to change your truth. It does take work and dedication; a little each day makes a world of difference over time.
The only place to start however, is within yourself, being honest with yourself about your situation and make the decision to change, that is what takes the time.  Once the decision is make….. it gets easier.
Here’s to a very different 2012.
